A Family Genealogy

This web site is the Family Tree of the Tyrrell kids, Jimmy, Donna Sue and Richard. Our family genealogy begins with the Iuen, Fetter, and Ferree families on our grandmother's side and with the Craver and Brown families on our grandfather's side. Here is a summary.

IUEN Jean Christian Iuen was born October 26, 1785 in the Tyrolean region of Austria. Christian, as he was known, married Marguerite Natherer on September 16, 1817 in Belfort, France. They had eight children, three boys and five girls. Four of the girls died before the age of two and Marguerite died at the early age of forty-four.

On May 23, 1838 Christian arrived in New York on the bark Dido with his second wife Catherine, his three sons Francis, Joseph, Jean Baptiste and his only daughter, Marie Ursele (Ursala) Iuen. Christian purchased a 142 acre farm in Owensville, Ohio. Francis opened a store and a hotel. Joseph became a farmer with property valued at $5,000 and John B. founded the Valley Enterprise newspaper and the Milford National Bank. Ursala married John Peter Fetter.

FETTER John Peter Fetter was born in Wurtemberg, Germany in 1824, the son of Christopher and Agnas Fetter. John married Ursala Iuen. Ursala and John settled in Owensville, Ohio and had seven children.

Their oldest son, John Christian, purchased a grocery and hardware store in 1879. He expanded its inventory and operated it for 30 years. The building served as both a residence and place of business for the Fetter family through several generations. Their second son, Joseph, married Almira Jane "Jennie" Ferree, daughter of Richard Lewis Ferree & Nancy (Snyder) Ferree.

FERREE Rev. John Ferree was born to Philip and Sarah (Evans) Ferree on May 27 1761 in Strasburg, PA. He was a private in the American Revolution fighting under Captain John Slaymaker's Company 7th Battalion in the Lancaster County Pennsylvania Militia.

John married Miss (Nancy) Rebecca Marsh on January 1 1792 in Augusta, Kentucky. John and Nancy had twelve children and settled in Boston, Clermount County, Ohio, which is Owensville, Ohio today. John was a Methodist Circuit rider traveling from church to church by horseback in Southwestern Ohio. His home served as a church until one was built in Boston.

John's grandson, Richard Lewis Ferree, was born in 1832. At age 22 Richard married Nancy Amanda Snyder. Their first child, Almira Jane "Jennie" Ferree, was born December 22, 1854. At the outbreak of the Civil War, Richard enlisted in Co. C, 2nd Infantry Regiment, Ohio Volunteers on July 27, 1861.

On September 19, 1863 in the battle of Chickamauga Creek Richard's brothr John was killed and his brother George W. was shot carrying John off the battle field. George survived but Richard was captured by the Confederats. In January 1864 Richard was sent to Andersonville Prison and on August 10, 1864 he died, probably of starvation.

CRAVER John Peter Craver was born September 8, 1801 in Trisch, Kingdom of Prussia. Peter married Sibile Elizabeth Zumbro. In the winter of 1839 Peter and Elizabeth embarked on a sailing vessel from Havre to America. It was spring before they arrived in Baltimore as they encountered several storms.

Peter and Elizabeth Craver had seven children. Their youngest child Jacob was born January 28, 1845 in Boston (which is Owensville, Ohio today). Jacob married Margaret Schmidt and Jacob and Margaret had eleven children. Their first child, Rose, was born July 8, 1867.

Rose Craver married Joseph Sebastian Braun the son of Phillip Braun and Annamarie Seifert. Joseph was a successful banker who changed the family name from Braun to Brown.

BROWN George Jacon Brown was the oldest son of Joseph Sebastian Brown and Rose Craver. George Brown married Clara Edith Fetter the daughter of Joseph Fetter and Jennie (Ferree) Fetter. George and Edith Brown had 4 children; George Joseph, Margaret Ellen, Rita Jane, & Donald Robert Brown.

Their oldest child, Joseph, died at the young age of 31. Donald, their youngest child, survived World War II after being critically wounded during the Battle of the Bulge. Their youngest daughter, Rita, married Robert Brandner.

TYRRELL George and Edith's oldest daughter, Margaret Ellen "Peggy" Brown, married Richard Tyrrell, the adopted son of Charles Tyrrell and Julia Mitchel. Peggy and Dick Tyrrell settled in Cincinnati, Ohio and had three children. The Tyrrell kids are Richard, Donna Sue, and Jim. This is our story. A detaild genealogy of our ancestoral famlies dollows. See the ADDENDUM for sources of this genealogy.

Iuen & Fetter Genealogy

Jean Christian Iuen
JEAN CHRISTIAN IUEN was born October 26, 1785 in the Tyrolean region of Austria. He was the son of Jean Joseph Iuen and Barbe Berthold Iuen. Jean Joseph Iuen was said to have died 14 April 1814. Barbe Bethold Iuen died 17 January 1817. Sometime in his youth Christian moved to Belfort, France. It is not known if he moved there with his parents.

Christian married MARGUERITE NATHERER on 16 September 1817 at 10 a.m. Christian was 32 years old and Marguerite was 27. Marguerite was the daughter of Francois Xavier Natherer and Marie Ursele Natherer of Belfort, France. Christian and Marguerite Iuen had eight children, three boys and five girls, all born in their home at #5 Fauborg du Magasin in Belfort, Alsace, France. Four of the girls died before the age of two and Marguerite died at the early age of forty-four. Marie Ursele (Ursala) Iuen was their only surviving daughter.

In 1838 Christian set sail for America with his second wife Catherine and his four children, Francis Xavier, Joseph L., Jean Baptiste and Ursala. The Iuens traveled with another family from Belfort - Henry and Francoise Rosselot and their six children, arriving in New York on May 23, 1838 on the bark Dido.

The Iuens and Rosselots traveled to the Erie canal, via Albany and Buffalo, and down the Ohio River arriving in Cincinnati on June 15, 1838. The Iuens settled near New Boston (now Owensville), Ohio, an area where a number of French families had settled. They were constituent members of St, Philomena Catholic Church in nearby Stonelick, Ohio. Listed among the church's 200 members were Christian Iuen, Francis X. Iuen and his wife Ruth,Joseph Iuen and his wife Theresa, and Peter Fetter.

Christian purchased a 142 acre farm in Owensville, Ohio from Conrad Harsh. He became a naturalized citizen of the United States in June 1844 and devoted his time to farming. Francis X. opened a store and a hotel. Joseph L. became a farmer with property valued at $5,000 and John B. founded the Valley Enterprise newspaper and the Milford National Bank. Ursala married John Peter Fetter.

* Throughout the book Ursala appears as the 4th child, not the 6th, because the children who died in infancy were not discovered until after the first publication of the book and renumbering was not feasable.

Ursala (Iuen) Fetter
MARIE URSELE (URSALA) IUEN was the only surviving daughter of Christian & Marguerit Iuen. Her four sisters died in infancy and were not discovered until after the first book was published. Ursala arrived in New York on May 23, 1838 on the bark DIDO with her father, Christian Iuen, her step mother, Catherine Schultz, and her three brothers Francis Xavier, Joseph, and Jean Baptiste.

Ursala married JOHN PETER FETTER who was born in Wurtemberg, Germany in 1824, the son of Christopher and Agnas Fetter. Ursala and John settled in Owensville, Ohio and had seven children.

Their oldest son, John Christian Fetter, married Olive Agnes "Ollie" Mayers. In 1879 John purchased a grocery and hardware store. The Fetter General Store was originally built on Main Street in Boston (now Owensville), Clermont County, Ohio. It was erected shortly after the Civil War, around 1866, by James Robinson on land purchased in 1851. Robinson’s widow sold the building to John Oonk in 1868, who used the building as a tailor’s shop and later added a line of dry goods.

After John purchased the store, he continued to expand its inventory and operated it for 30 years. The building served as both a residence and place of business for the Fetters family through several generations. The century-old store still stands. In 1983 the store was carefully dismantled and moved to a restored 19th century village in Sharonville, Ohio. The façade is that of the Leadville style, typical of western buildings built from 1860 to 1900, and is the only original part of the structure dating to the 19th Century.

Their second son, Joseph Fetter, married Almira Jane (Jennie) Ferree, daughter of Richard Lewis Ferree & Nancy Snyder.

Ferree Family Genealogy

John Ferree
REV. JOHN FERREE was born to Philip and Sarah (Evans) Ferree on May 27 1761 in Strasburg, Pennsylvania. He was a private in the American Revolution fighting under Captain John Slaymaker's Company 7th Battalion in the Lancaster County Pennsylvania Militia. He married Miss (Nancy) Rebecca Marsh on January 1 1792 in Augusta, Kentucky. Shortly after the marriage, he bought a farm near Augusta, Kentucky on which he lived until he moved to Clermont County, Ohio.

John was the father of twelve children. John was a Methodist Circuit rider in Southwestern Ohio. His career started in Chillicothe, Ohio. He attended a seminary in Augusta before he and his family went to Ohio. He was one of the pioneer Methodists of Clermont County. The Methodist church of Boston (which is Owensville today) was started in John's house and preaching was held there until a church was built at Boston in 1831. In the fiftieth year of his age, the Reverend John Ferree became President Elder of the Methodist Church. He served two years. He was a man of tender heart and tearful eye. Having been a plaster before he became a minister, it is said that often when he became absorbed in his theme while preaching, he unconsciously took on the gestures of his former trade. His voice was noted for its musical qualities. One who heard him sing at a camp meeting, a short time before he died, said: "That man and his music would do for Heaven, and God will certainly take him soon to sing with the angels." John passed away August 17 1839 in Stonelick, OH. He is buried on private property across the road from Stonelick Cemetery, near a row of poplar trees.

NANCY REBECCA MARSH FERREE was born on August 4 1768 in Baltimore, MD to William and Patience (Leavens) Marsh. She was one of twelve siblings. On January 17 1792, Rebecca married Mr John Ferree in Augusta, KY. She was first a farmer's wife in Kentucky, and about 1809, she became a Methodist Preacher's wife in Clermont County, OH. Rebecca was the mother of twelve children; David, William, Moses, John, Isaac, Minerva, Thomas, Snowden, Sarah, Richard, Mary Ann and Philip Gatch. The Methodist Church of Boston (which is Owensville today) was started in John and Rebecca's house and preaching continued there until a church was built in 1831. She died on June 23 1844 in Stonelick, OH and is buried next to her husband, John, on private property across the road from Stonelick Cemetery, near a row of poplar trees.

Richard Lewis Ferree
RICHARD LEWIS FERREE was the third child born to Snowden & Charlotte Goldtrap Ferree. He was born in 1832 in Owensville, Clermont Co., OH. In 1850 he was living in Wayne, Clermont Co., OH. On March 12, 1854 at age 22 he married NANCY AMANDA SNYDER. In 1860 he was a farmer in Wayne, OH. By 1861 Richard & Nancy had 4 children. At the outbreak of the Civil War he enlisted in Co. C, 2nd Infantry Regiment, Ohio Volunteers on July 27, 1861 at age 29.

When he went to war, his older brother, William G. Ferree, helped care for his children and wife. William did not fight in the war. But Richard had 2 other brothers, a brother-in-law, and 12 1st cousins who served in the Civil War.

At age 30 in 1862 Richard was sick in the hospital for two months at Camp Denison, OH. At age 31 on Sept. 19, 1863 he was captured on the 1st of a two day battle at Chickamauga Creek, GA. His younger brother John was killed in battle that day fighting with Co. E, 59th OH Infantry Regiment. His brother George W. also fought with Co. E, 59th OH Infantry, and survived the battle and war. On Sept. 29, 1863 Richard was confined (imprisoned) in Richmond, Virginia (headquarters of the Confederate Army). He was processed through Libby Prison in Richmond. On Oct. 12, 1863 at age 31 he was transferred to Danville, independent cities, VA. This was an enlisted men's prison just outside Richmond.

In Jan. (approx.) 1864 he was transferred to the newly opened prison in Sumter, GA., Andersonville. On June 30, 1864 he was hospitalized at Andersonville Prison. The hospital facilities were over-crowded (as was the entire prison camp), had little or no medicines, and were outside under a tent. On Aug. 10, 1864 at age 32 he died. His death was recorded as caused by diarrhea A. He is buried in a trench grave #5249 at Andersonville National Cemetery. Richard is one of approximately 13,000 US soldiers who died at Andersnville Prison. The other 35 2nd OVI Co C soldiers who were captured with Richard, also died in Andersonville.

Richard's widowed wife, Nancy Ann Snider FERREE, remarried at least once after his death. She married a man 12 years her junior, who worked on her farm. She had at least 4 more children with her second husband. Some of her children with Richard lived with their grandparents, Snowden & Charlotte Ferree. She filed for Richard's Civil War pension in 1868, the year that she remarried. I believe that she died around 1880, burial is unknown.

Jennie (Ferree) Fetter
Joseph Fetter married ALMIRA JANE "JENNIE" FERREE, the daughter of Richard Lewis Ferree & Nancy Snider. Jennie's mother was born in 1834 the daughter of Sarah Wilson and David Snider. Jennie has a brother, Snowden and two sisters, Lucetta Ferree Morgan and Alice Josephine Ferree Ritchie. Her brother was named after his paternal grandfather.

Jennie's father, Richard Lewis Ferree, enlisted in the Civil War in 1861. When he went to war, his older brother, William G. Ferree, helped care for his children and wife. William did not fight in the war. Richard died three years later in a Confederate Prison Camp. Jennie's mother, Nancy A Snider Ferree, remarried John W. Downey in 1868. On the 1870 census Jennie was living with her grand parents, Snowden & Charlotte Ferree. Her brother, two sisters and a half sister were living with her mother and step father.

At the age of 21 Jennie married JOSEPH FETTER. They had 8 children together: Orville, Leo, Charles, Frank, Marie, Alice, Clara & Joseph. Jennie outlived at least three of her children, dying at the age of 97.

I once got to meet my great grandmother Jennie. What I remember is that she had fallen and broken her hip and was bed-ridden at my grandmother's home in Norwood, OH. Unfortunately no one ever told me the story of this great lady's life.

Craver Family Genealogy

Sible Elizabeth (Zumbro) Craver
The Obituary of Elizabeth Craver

SIBILE ELIZABETH CRAVER obituary published May 3, 1882. .

CRAVER, Elizabeth (June 19, 1804-March 18, 1882 age 77)
Mrs Elizabeth Craver parted this life at her late residence in Stonelick Township, Clermont County, Ohio on Saturday morning March 18, age 77 years, 8 months, 29 days. She was born in the village of Trisch, Kingdom of Prussia, June 19, 1804. She was married in her native place to Peter Craver. Here they resided until the year 1839 when they were with other friends and relatives embarked in a sailing vessel from Havre to America. After a voyage of sixty days in which they encountered several storms, they landed safely at Baltimore early in the spring of the next year. During this long and wearisome voyage her husband was not able to leave his bed, and with all the duties of a beloved wife and an affectionate mother, she cheerfully caressed her sick husband and four children: Catherine, John P., Elizabeth and Christian. Not long after their arrival at Baltimore, her husband was restored to perfect health which releived her very much of her troubles. After having remained here a short time they bade farewell to their friends and relatives who accompanied them across the wide ocean and continued their journey westward until they came to the present site of Cincinnati, where they found a few brick houses and log cabins. Being nearly destitute of money and friends, and the thoughts of their own dear native land, which they had left far toward the east, pressed heavily upon their hearts.

It was early in the spring of 1839, and the little birds had already begun to warble their sweet songs among the branches of the green forests and the green meadows were dotted with cattle and sheep in the spot where a populace city now stands. Here her husband soon found employment in a stone quarry at the rate of thirty cents per day, which in those days was considered good wages, and which gave them much encouragement and prosperity began to smile upon them. After three months had elapsed and the trees had begun to cast off their green foliage, they moved to a farm which is located about one mile south of what is now called Elstuns Station located on the C. & E. railroad. Not satisfied with the location of the farm and its surroundings, after one years stay, they removed to a farm in Stonelick Township, about two miles north of Boston, and now owned by Mrs, Spahr. Here they remained eight years. While her husband was engaged in chopping wood and burning it into charcoal and shipping to the Cincinnati market. The year 1849 saw them the owners of a comfortable home which they purchased from one Henry Kline. Here they remained until death removed them to their heavenly home.

November 7th, 1870, her beloved companion, who was born in the village of Trisch, Kingdom of Prussia, September 8. 1801, was called from the scene of his earthly labor by a stroke of paralysis: having spent about forty years together in love and happiness. She had survived him nearly twelve years. Grandmother Craver was a consistent member of the Lutheran Church. She was always ready to lend a helping hand to the poor and her afflicted neighbors. During the last few years of her life, she devoted much of her time to Bible reading, which seemed to comfort her very much. No matter what her troubles were she was always cheerful and happy which made her universally liked by all who knew her. It can safely be said that she had not an enemy in this wide world; and that the world has become better since she has lived in it.

The funeral took place at her late residence, March 19th, 1882. The text was found in the 90th chapter of the book of Psalms, from first to tenth verse. Her funeral services were conducted by Rev. H Hill. Her remains wee taken to the Milford Cemetary for interement and was followed by a large concourse of relatives and friends. The Pall bearers were viz: Joseph Rein Clemens Rheile, Dean Spahr, John Rapp, Chas. Renchelt and Albert Boll.

She was the mother of seven children, three sons and four daughters, who are all living. Below we give a breif history of each, beginning with the eldest as follows:

Brown Family Genealogy

George Jacob Brown
GEORGE JACOB BROWN was the oldest son of Joseph Sebastian Brown and Rose Craver. George had two sisters, Florence Mary Brown who died at the age of 19 and Marguerite Brown who died before the age of one.

George's father, Joseph Sebastian Brown, was a successful banker who changed the family name from Braun to Brown to match its American pronunciation. Joseph was the son of Phillip Braun and Annmarie Seifert of Bavaria, Germany. Phillip died when he was only thirty-four.

George's mother, ROSE CRAVER, was born in 1869 the daughter of Jacob Craver and Margaret Schmidt. Jacob Craver was the son of John Peter Craver and Sible Elizabeth Zumbro Craver. Peter and Elizabeth Craver set sail for America from the village of Trisch, Kingdom of Prussia in 1839. Their voyage took sixty days as they encountered many storms. It was the spring of 1840 before they arrived in Baltimore. Peter and Elizabeth settled in Milford, Ohio and had 7 children.

The obituary of Elizabeth Craver (nee Sible Elizabeth Zumbro), the great grandmother of George Brown, appears below. I used the obituary to create a geneology of the CRAVER family.

Clara Edith (Fetter) Brown
CLARA EDITH FETTER was the 7th of 8 children born to Joseph Alfred & Almira Jane "Jennie" Ferree Fetter. Her siblings were Orville, Leo, Charles, Frank, Marie, Alice & Joseph. Sometime between 1910-1916 Edith married GEORGE JACOB BROWN. George & Edith had 4 children: George Joseph, Margaret Ellen, Rita Jane, & Donald Robert Brown.

Their oldest child, Joseph, died at the young age of 31. Donald, their youngest child, survived World War II after being critically wounded during the Battle of the Bulge. Their youngest daughter, Rita, married Robert Brandner. Their oldest daughter, Margarite Ekllen "Peggy" Brown married RICHARD TYRRELL.

Tyrrell Family History

Margaret Ellen "Peggy" (Brown) Tyrrell
MARGARET ELLEN (PEGGY) BROWN was the second child of Edith Fetter and George Brown. Peggy was a strong and independent lady. The real challenge came after my Dad left us following his fight with cancer. He suffered very much as a result of surgery and radiation treatments and became severly depressed. To continue selling fresh meats in our corner grocery store, Peggy had to learn the butcher trade. And, Peggy proved to be an astute business woman keeping the corner grocery store going. From her I learned about cash flow, inventory, markup, profit and loss and customer relations. We spent idle time playing Scrabble® and often competed to see who could take the biggest grocery order over the phone and fill it from memory.

After the store was sold, Peggy worked in the catalog department of the Cincinnati Public Library. Later, her early skills of typing and shorthand made her an excellent secretary. Upon her retirement she published a monthy news letter at her independent living facility.

In her senior years Peggy moved to independent living at Mt. View Terrace in Reading, Ohio. Peggy published their monthly newsletter, the View Point. Each month she dedicated a column to "The Resident of the Month." Her month was to be January 1996. She had writen her own "Little Bio" the way she had done for so many of her neighbors and friends. Sadly though, Peggy did not live to publish the January issue. Her article follows:

RESIDENT ARTICLE OF THE MONTH
Peggy Tyrrell A-313

I was born in April under the the spring sign of the Zodiac, the second oldest in a family of two boys and two girls. We made our home in Madisonville, Ohio.

My mother, Edith, was frail after I was born having suffered with pneumonia and the flu epidemic of World War I. My father was a successful business man, though, and was able to hire help for her.

Times were difficult after the war and the Help was not always dependable and honest. One time new Help even kidnapped my baby brother. Fortunately, he was found a few days later in Lexington, KY and returned home unharmed.

Followinf this, I often stayed with my Grandparents when my mother was not well and strong. I emember them fondly as well as my childhood days attending St. Anthony's school, St. Margaret of Corona's and St. Mary's high school.

My sister, Rita, married and has lived in Madeira. My brother, Donald, married and now lives in West Chester, PA. We lost our older brother when he was 30.

I, too, married but not sucessfuly. My three children are the love of my life, Richard in Philadelphia, Donna Sue in Macon, GA and my youngest, James, here in Sharonville. My Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren are scattered throughout the States from Colorado to Massachusetts to Florida.

Although my career kept me working in small offices where longevity was not the rule, I found stability where I lived; twenty three years at Lake Shore in Reading; two years with my son in Sharonville. Now I am at Mt. View, a wonderful place for the young at heart. I keep busy with crafts, knitting and crocheting. Reading is a favorite pass time, second maybe to the game of the century, my Nintendo. Of course I've always believed that "Learning is fun" so I have my computr to pursuit this theory.

In conclusion, I hope that you, my heighbors, remain healthy and well and that you enjoy every day here at Mt. View. God Bless.

Peggy T.

Charles Richard Tyrrell
By the time I was three years old, I had a baby sister Donna and a baby brother Jim. We lived on Winneste Avenue in Winton Terrace, a public housing project that opened in 1940. At age 6, I started first grade at St. Bernard Catholic school in the neighboring community of Winton Place.

By the 7th grade we had moved to an apartment on Hamilton Avenue between Northside and College Hill. From there my parents bought a grocery store at the corner of Chase and Chambers Streets in Northside. J&R Foods sold fresh vegetables and meats and my dad was the meat cutter. I loved helping in our busy store delivering groceries, stocking shelves, marking canned goods, cleaning fruit and vegetable bins, and defrosting the ice cream freezer.

Soon afterwards my father became ill with cancer. He suffered very much as a result of surgery and radiation treatments that left him disfigured and he became severely depressed. After he left us, my mother aand I kept the store going for as long as we could. I returned to school at West Night High School and graduated in 1960.

At the age of 20 and 11 months I joined the U.S. Air Force and served four years active duty as an Electronic Countermeasures Technician. In the military I started going by Charlie instead of Rich. It was easier than explaining why my orders and name tags said "Charles" instead of "Richard." My grandfather Tyrrell was Charles and I always admired my grandfather.

During my military assignment in Plattsburgh, NY, I met Arlene Hart. We were married on November 30, 1963. The following November our son Robert was born. At the end of my enlisstment we moved to Lansdale, PA where our second son, Joseph, was born.

With my heart set on electronic engineering, I attended LaSalle University at night and esrned a degree in Electronic Physics. It took seven years and by the time I finished my degree program I had moved into management. My new career was very sucessful. In ten years we had moved ahead from our little ranch home in Franconia Township, PA to a 2,600 square-foot, two-story, center-hall home, with four bedrooms and three baths, in Medford, NJ.

Meanwhile, Arlene had become depressed and wouldn't leave the house. We were barely settled in Medford before she decided on a divorce and disappeared with our sons, our money and everything we ownwd. By the time the divirce was final my life had become one of dancing and girlfriends but that was about to change, Arlene kicked the boys out and they came to live with me.

Another life-changing event was about to happen. JCPenney went out of the appliance business and I lost my management career. Fortunately, I had been forced to use a main-frame computer and found I had a natural ability for programming it. Again, within ten years I was back to upper middle class living and bought two properties in center city Philadelphia.

I also learned to play golf and decided to retire in Arizona. In 2005 I bought a house in Mesa, AZ with a partner and we moved there in 2007. The new relationship did not work as expected and I abandoned the arrangement.

Soon after, I met Joan Kirsch, the lady who would become my best friend and life partner. Our first date was on April 5, 2008. Since then we have danced across the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, golfed in Mexico and Hawaii and have shared life together at Joan's home at Anthem Country Club in Anthem, AZ.

In 1994 I had adopted a stray kitten and named her Brandy. Brandy lived with me in Abington, Chestnut Hill, and Philadelphia, PA before we moved to Mesa, AZ. Joan reluctantly accepted Brandy. Then, in December 2013 Brandy became ill and what was diagnosed as constipation turned out to be a collapsed colon. Brandy was going on 21 years of age when she died in January 2014. Joan and I adopted Lucky in February, a five year old cat that now shares our lives.

Update: Lucky passed over the Rainbow Bridge after developing an intestinal tumor and Joan and I adopted Yeti Bear. Before long, a dear friend and neighbor died leaving Louie, her beautiful Siberian cat. Louie and Yeti Bear were friends so we promised Carolee Louie woul have a homme with Yeti Bear for the rest of their lives. Joan has two cats now but they "make her smile."

Robert James Tyrrell
Robert James Tyrrell was born at Plattsburgh Air Force Base in Plattsburgh, New York 10 November 1964. When his father was discharged from the U.S. Air Force, Bob moved to Telford, PA with his parents at the early age of nine months.

His early childhood was on Moyer Road in Franconia Township, PA in a small developement of ten houses like the one shown in the photos. In school, Bob excelled. He managed great grades without cracking a book and at every Parent-Teacher conference the teachers demonstrated how much they liked Bob.

His father Charles worked for the J.C. Penney company. In 1973 they transferred him to Centerville, Ohio, a suburb of Dayton. Their home was a two-story colonial with a large front porch. Bob and his borther, Joseph, delivered newspapers in the neighborhood. They had a mini-bike and pulled their papers in a wagon hitched to the bike. The school in Centerville was very progressive where students all worked together on learning tasks they had "contracted" to complete with the teacher. Once again, Bob excelled in his schooling.

In 1977 Bob's father was transferred to New Jersey. The new home was a magnificent four-bedroom, center hall home located on Robin Hood Drive in Sherwood Forest, Medford, New Jersey. Bob enjoyed fishing in the neighborhood lakes and sometimes went fishing before school.

Bob was about 12 years old when his parents divorced. His mother moved to her home town, Massena, NY, where Bob continued to deliver newspapers as he had been doing in Centerville. His mother objected to any contact with his father but on one occassion Bob and his brother Joe did meet their father for a weekend of skiing at Lake Placid, NY.

When Bob was a senior a highschool, his mother kicked him out along with his brother. She put them on a Greyhound bus headed for New York City in hopes they could get to their father's home in Lindenwold, New Jersey. Joseph Michael Tyrrell
His early childhood was in Franconia, PA in a small developement of ten houses like the one shown here at the left. At the early age of nine, Joe moved with his family to Centerville, Ohio, a suburb of Dayton. Joe was in the third grade in a very progressive school system where students all worked together on learning tasks they had "contracted" to complete with the teacher. After his first school year, Joe's teacher informed his parents, very much to their surprise, that Joe was not reading on a first-grade level and summer school was necessary.

Joe came home from his first day summer school excited that the student who read the most books would win a prize. Joe had his eye on a game and that summer he won the game. That drive has propelled him to a very successful life as an adult. Today, Joe has a Master's Degree in computer science from Villanova University in Radnor, PA, near where he and his lovely wife, Patricia, make their home in Wayne.

Joe was about ten years old when his parent divorced. His mother moved to Massena, NY, where she grew up. His mother objected to any contact with his father but on one occassion Joe and his brother Bob did meet their father for a weekend of skiing at Lake Placid, NY.

When Joe was a junior in highschool, his mother kicked him and his brother out putting them on a Greyhound bus headed for New York City in hopes they could get to their father's home in Lindenwold, New Jersey. As luck would have it. commuter buses ran regularly between New York City and Marlton, NJ. Joe's dad arranged to meet him and his brother in Marlton. His father had a one-bedroom apartment in Linenwold, NJ.

Donna Sue (Tyrrell) Juniet
DONNA SUE TYRRELL My sister Donna Sue was born 11 months and 8 days after I was born. Donna married Robert Juniet in June 1963 at the age of 22. Donna and Robert had 3 sons, all born in Cincinnati, Ohio. Robert inherited a welding supply business from his father along with his brother. After selling the business, Bob moved his family to Florida.

My sister and I had aa falling out over the book The Christian Iuen Family History." Donna insisted on "reading" the book. However, there were many reasons I did not want to mail the book to her in Gerogia. The book was spiral-bound, heavy, over 40-years old, it contained loose pages that had been inserted over the years, and it could never be replaced if lost or damaged.

I created this website so all family memebers from South Carolina to Oregon had access to The Tyrrell Family History. Donna was not impressed and refused to "read our family history online." Even after the history of Richard Ferree was discovered, Donna wasn't interested even though she had visited the Andersonville Prison Cemetary in Georgia and taken photos of Richard Ferree's grave.

James Mitchel Tyrrell
JAMES MITCHEL TYRRELL Before "Richard" was 3 years old, he had a baby sister Donna and a baby brother Jim. Jim and Rich both attended Sacred Heart Seminary. They learned tennis and enjoyed many games together. They both loved photography but, later in life, Jim went to photography school leaving a legacy of photographs for his family to enjoy.

Jim married Ina Jean Dorst Landrum and adopted her infant daughter Debra Renee Landrum. Jim and Ina had three children together, a son James Charles and two daughters Theresa Jean and Angel.

Jim became a meat cutter and worked for the Kroger Company for many years. Always adventurous, he drove a semi truck & trailer for several years after retiring from meat cutting. As he traveled back and forth across the country, he added many artful photos to his asemblage.

Ina became ill with Lupus and died at the early age of 39. Jim found love again with Marilyn Barnes. They had 20 wonderful years together until Marilyn died of COPD. Jim continued to live in Cincinnati until Marilyn's death. With his health failing after the removal of a lung, Jim moved to Medford, Oregon to be close to his youngest daughter Angel.

Jim had many talents. He loved camping, fishing, and skeet shooting. Jim played golf for nearly 5 decades, In his last year of life, Jim began to teach himself how to play the guitar. In April 2023 Jim lost his battle against lung cancer. No one could have asked for a better brother, father or husband than Jim.
