Addendum

A genealogy is not a book you can read. It's a "family tree" that has to be studied, For this web site, I wrote many of the stories summarizing family trees like the one found on pages 135 and 136 of The Christian Iuebn Family History. Some stories were copied from sources and some from documents like Elizabeth Craver's obituary. Use your browser's "back arrow" when returning from a link. I hope you enjoy the stories.

Sources
The Christian Iuen and Joseph Fetter family histories are from the book The Christian Iuen Family History. The genealogy was compiled by Carol Marquett Glover of Greensboro, North Carolina and her daughter Virginia Cook Marquett of Terrace Park, Ohio. The book is currently available in the Clermount County Public Library, Cincnnati, Ohio,

The First Edition was published in 1979. The Second Edition was published in 1987. Local cemetaries provided dates and clues. Records of the Clermont County Probate Court turned up birth and death certificates, marriage licenses and estate papers. Unfortunately, old records from Hamilton County Probate Courts were destroyed years ago in a fire.

The National Archives in Washinton, D.C. provided access to Census records of 1840, 1850, 1860, 1870 and 1880. In addition, it was here that the ship's record of the Iuen family arrival in New York was found. The final source of information was the municiple archives of the town of Belfort, France. Carol visited there in Januaary 1979. She felt an enormous thrill upon finding Christian's marriage licenses and the birth records for his children."

The Ferree family history began with copies of Richard Ferree's Civil War records. They included all of his "Muster" records and a copy of his death certificate. Donna Sue (Tyrrell) Juniet visited Andersonville National Cemetary and contributed pictues and information provided by Andersonville.

In June 2023, I discovered Richard Lewis Ferree on Findagrave.com. The website included Richard's parents, spouse, siblings, children and his Civil War story. Findagrave.com was surprisingly acurate from Jean Christian Iuen to my grandmother and from Elizabeth Craver and Phillip Brown to my grandfather.

The Craver and Brown family histories came from documents that Peggy Tyrrell had accumulated. They included a copy of Sibile Elizabeth Craver's obituary which provided a thorough family hisory that I turned into a genealogy patterned after The Iuen Famiy Histoory book.

The Tyrrell family histories came from me. Pleasse feel free to contribute.

Format and Generation Codes
In the book, all female descendants are listed under their birth names. The book uses a coding system that was developed to uniquely identify each family member and give his ancestory. I used the book's format and coding system throughout the web site.

4.2.7.2.
Margaret Ellen (Peggy) Brown

b. (birth date)
d. (date of death)
m. (marriage information)
Issue: (children)

Code 4.2.7.2. identifies Peggy's geneology as:
4. the fourth child of Christian Iuen (Ursala Iuen)**
2. the second child of Ursala Iuen (Joseph Fetter)
7. the seventh child of Joseph Fetter (Edith Fetter)
2. the second child of Edith Fetter (Peggy Brown)
** Ursala is listed as the 4th child because the children who died in infancy were not discovered until after the first publication of the book and renumbering was not feasable.
